Scholar Support Programme is a scheme implemented by Govt. of Kerala for the benefit of students who are academically weak. The scheme intends to give additional coaching to the needy students in the subjects having higher failure rate. Under this project, various training programmes and special classes are given to the students who need special attention. The implementation of this scheme is highly significant because it would help the students from economically and socially backward classes of the society. Most of the students in our institution are from rural areas. Students who are backward in their academic activities are identified and given special care and attention to achieve their goals. The college council selects a college level co-ordinator for the SSP scheme from the faculty. The current co-ordinator is Dr. Sreejamole K. L., Associate Professor, Department of Zoology.

A maximum of 5 subjects are identified as difficult subjects and a maximum of 40 students of I and II year are identified as beneficiaries as directed by the higher authorities. First and Second year students and staff are given an awareness class regarding the scheme. Students were selected after discussing with class tutors. Five teachers are included in teaching process for each year. Special classes by internal mentors and general mentoring sessions by external mentors are taken as part of the scholar support programme. The SSP programme was started in our college in the academic year 2014-’15 and continued till 2019-’20. Due to Covid outbreak, the government has temporarily stopped the scheme till further notification.
