Central / State / University Scholarships

Various scholarship schemes, initiated by the state/central Governments, University and college PTA/ALUMINI, to financially aid the students belonging to meritorious, underprivileged, needy, and physically challenged groups. Following are the different State/Central/University Scholarship schemes available for the benefit of students through various funding agencies.

Central Scholarships

  1. Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities

Eligibility: 

Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities caters to minority students studying in class 11 and above. So, the eligible candidates for this MOMA scholarship must belong to any of the minority communities. Find below the eligibility requirements for the Post-Matric Scholarship for Minorities.

  1. Applicants must belong to a minority community as notified by the Government of India. These include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians (Parsis) and Jains.
  2. The candidates must be studying in class 11 or above. Thus, the students studying in classes 11,12, graduate, postgraduate, technical or vocational courses, M.Phil or PhD are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  3. Students applying for this MOMA scholarshipshould have scored a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination.
  4. The annual family income of the candidate’s parents/guardian should not exceed INR 2 lakh. This annual income comprises total income from all the sources.

 

  1. Post-matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

Eligibility: The Scholarships are to provide financial assistance to the parents of students with disabilities for studying in post-matric level. The financial assistance includes scholarship, book grant, escort/reader allowance, etc. Selection of the beneficiaries under these two scholarship schemes is on the basis of merit.

  1. Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships For College And University Students

Eligibility for Scholarship i. Students who are above 80th percentile of successful candidates in the relevant stream from the respective Board of Examination in Class XII of 10+2 pattern or equivalent; ii. Pursuing regular degree courses and not correspondence or distance mode or pursuing Diploma courses; iii. Pursuing courses at colleges/institutions recognized by All India Council for Technical Education and respective Regulatory Bodies concerned; iv. Not availing benefit of any other scholarship schemes including State run scholarship schemes/ fee waiver & reimbursement scheme; v. Students with gross parental/family income upto Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum are eligible for scholarship under the scheme. Income certificate will be required only for the fresh applicants;

  1. INSPIRE Scholarship (DST, Govt. of India)

Eligibility:

INSPIRE Scholar having secured minimum 70% marks (or CGPA equivalent) in aggregate at M.Sc. or Integrated M.S. / M.Sc. (or) (b) 1 st Rank Holder with minimum 70% marks (or CGPA equivalent) at University level examination in PostGraduate (PG) level examinations in Basic/Applied Sciences including Engineering, Pharmacy, Agricultural sciences and Veterinary Sciences from any recognized University and academic Institutions (Excluding Autonomous Colleges) in India. (or) (c) 1 st Rank Holder at University level examination in Graduate/Post-graduate Degree in Medicine only from any recognized Indian University or Institute/Statutory Body in India.

  1. PG Merit Scholarship For University Rank Holders

ELIGIBILITY:

 4.1 The scholarship is available to the student for first PG Degree only. Age limit for the students is 30 years at the time of admission in PG course. 4.2 Distance mode of education will not be considered under the scheme. 4.3 The Undergraduate courses from following streams have been identified for the award of scholarships: 1.Life Sciences 2. Physical Sciences 3. Chemical Sciences 4. Earth Sciences 5. Mathematical Sciences 6. Social Sciences 7. Commerce 8.   1. PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be pursuing a masters degree course.
  • This scholarship will be given only to those girls who are the only girl child in their family.
  • The age of the applicant must not be more than 30 years.
  • Those who are pursuing distance courses are not eligible.

  1. Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for the wards of RPF/RPS

Eligibility: Students should belongs to the wards of Railway Protection Force, who studying course under B.Sc. Bio-Tech(Bachelor of Bio-Technology). Amount of scholarship: 2000/- per month for male students; 2250/- per month for female students

State Scholarships

  1. Higher Education Council Scholarship (HECS)

Eligibility: First year degree students of Science, Humanities, Social Science, Business Studies. Qualifying marks in previous examination: For SC/ST 45% in Science and 40% in other subjects. For others 50% in Science and 45% in other subjects. Scholarship Amount: For UG Rs. 12000 for first year ; Rs.18,000 for second year (1st Renewal); and Rs. 24,000 per year (2nd Renewal) for final year; PostGraduation (for continuing education) – Rs. 40,000 for first year (3rd renewal) and Rs. 60,000 for second year (4th renewal).

  1. State Merit Scholarship (SMS)

Eligibility: applicant should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying exam and should be first year student of UG or PG. Annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs. 1lakh. Scholarship Amount: For UG Rs. 1250 per annum for 3 years. For PG Rs. 1500 per annum for 2 years.

Eligibility: Hindi must be one of the subjects in the present studying course. Only I year students are eligible for applying the scholarship. Scholarship Amount: For UG Rs. 500 per month for 3 years; For PG Rs. 1000 per month for 2 years

  1. Muslim Nadar Girls Scholarship

Eligibility: Should be first year girl student of UG and should belong to Forward of BPL family and Backward Community. Annual income of the parent/guardian should not exceed Rs. 18,000 per annum. Scholarship Amount: For UG Rs. 125 per annum for 3 years

  1. Sanskrit Scholarship

Eligibility: Sanskrit must be one of the subjects in the present studying course. Only Ist year students are eligible for applying the scholarship. Scholarship Amount: For UG and PG Rs. 200 per month for 3years and 2 years respectively.

  1. Suvarna Jubilee Merit Scholarship (SJMS)

Eligibility: should be first year students of UG or PG. should belong to BPL family. Should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying examination. Scholarship Amount: For UG and PG Rs. 10000 per annum or 3 years and 2 years respectively.

  1. Blind/PH Scholarship (BPHFC)

Eligibility: Blind/PH/Deaf students studying in UG and PG. Financial support: Fee Charges for Blind students with family annual income below Rs. 2.5 lakhs. Hostel charges for all PH students who are hostellers and whose family annual income is below Rs. 4.50 lakhs. Boarding charges for all PH students who are day scholars and whose family annual income is below Rs. 4.50 lakhs. Can apply as fresh in all academic years.

  1. District Merit Scholarship (DMS) Renewal

Eligiblity: Continued from +2 level upto UG level. Should have scored A Plus in all subjects in the SSLC Examination March 2013, conducted by Board of Public Examinations, Kerala State. Scholarship amount : Rs. 1250 per annum for 3 years.

  1. Kerala University Merit Scholarship

Eligibility: Meritorius students of UG & PG, who scored not less than 60% marks in the qualifying examination. Students enjoying any other scholarship are not eligible. Scholarship amount : for UG students Rs. 2500/- per annum for 3 years & for P.G. students Rs. 3,000/- per annum for 2 years

Eligibility: Students of Degree & P.G. classes whose parents’ annual income does not exceed Rs. 10,0000 per annum. Scholarship amount: for UG Rs. 2000/- per annum for 3 years & for P.G. students. Rs. 3,000/- per annum for 2 years

  1. SNEHAPOORVAM Scholarship of Kerala Social Security Mission

Eligibility: Orphans (die either father or mother) who are living in the family, with their relatives, friends, or the support of the community. Scholarship amount: for UG and PG students, Rs.10,000/- per annum for 3 years and 2years respectively

  1. ASPIRE scholarship for PG/M.Phil/Ph.D programmes

Eligibility: Meritorious students of the University Departments / Colleges under the University of Kerala for pursuing short term internships/projects in institutions other than their parent Colleges/University Departments.

Award: Rs.8000/- p.m, for internship/ project undertaken within the state and Rs.10,000/- for internship/ project undertaken outside the state. The Scholarship will be provided for minimum period of one month for P.G. Course and a maximum period of 4 months for M.Phil and Ph.D courses (at a single stretch or in 2 phases) depending upon the proposal.

  1. H. Muhammedkoya Scholarship (CHMS)

Eligibility: Should belong to Muslim, Latin, Converted Christian Community and should be a native of Kerala. Should be a girl student studying for the first year graduation or higher courses. Should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying examination. Annual income of the parent/guardian should not exceed Rs. 6 lakhs. Scholarship Amount: For UG: Rs. 5000 per annum for 3 years For PG: Rs. 6000 per annum for 2 years

  1. Joseph Mundassery Scholarship

Eligibility: Meritorious students of Muslim, Cristain, Sikkh, Buddah, Parsis, Jains community who studying in BA/BSc/B.Com in Arts/science colleges
Award: Rs. 15000/- each given to outgoing students, scores 80% in UG final year examination and 75% in PG final year examination.

  1. VIDYASAMUNNATHI Scholarship

The UG & PG students of economically backward forward communities will get educational scholarships and competitive assistance for their studies. Award: Scholarship will be given to Undergraduate (Rs. 5000/- per year & post graduate students (Rs. 6000/- per year) Can apply as fresh in all academic years. No renewals.

  1. Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation (KSBCDC) Scholarship

The economically backward OBC students will get educational scholarships and competitive assistance for their studies. Annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs. 1,20,000/-
Scholarship amount: Rs. 5000/- per year to Undergraduate & post graduate level for 3 years and 2years respectively.

  1. PRATHIBHA Scholarship (KSCSTE, Govt. of Kerala)

Eligiblity: The scholarship offered to meritorius BSc students of Botany, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology; should have qualified Higher Secondary Board Examination with minimum 90% marks or equivalent grade for all subjects put together and minimum 90% marks or equivalent grade for all Science subjects put together. (For SC/ST reservation category, the eligibility is stipulated to minimum marks of 80% or equivalent grade for all subjects in total and minimum 80% marks or equivalent grade for all Science subjects in total.

The objective of the programme is to motivate bright students to Higher studies in Basic and Natural Sciences by awarding them Scholarships. Prathibha Scholars are also provided opportunities to attend Science orientation programmes in reputed research laboratories in the state so as to introduce themselves to cutting edge areas of research and interact with pioneers in Science.

The selected students are initially eligible for scholarship for 3-year U.G. programme. The scholarship could be continued for 2-year P.G. / 4 th & 5 th years of Integrated P.G./ 1 st and 2 nd years of Integrated Ph.D. subject to the guidelines of the scheme.
