NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the largest uniformed youth organization in the world. It is a voluntary organisation administered through the Indian Defence Ministry. It provides opportunities for students to engage in several activities like institutional training, community development, adventure, sports and the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP). It instills in the cadets a sense of discipline, social service, esprit-de-corps and co-operation besides developing their latent qualities of leadership, spirit of adventure, environmental awareness and adaptability. The motto of the NCC is “Unity and Discipline”.

The college has two subunits of the NCC Army Wing (11 K Bn and 1 K Girls Independent Coy) and one naval wing (7 K Naval Unit).. The cadets attend several camps like Annual Training Camp, Centrally Organised Camps like Leadership Camp, Tal Sainik Camp (TSC), Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat Camp (EBSB), Rock Climbing Camps, RDC, PM’s Rally and Adventure Training and Sports Camps.  Apart from the common NCC camps, the Naval Cadets attend camps like Nau Sainik camp (NSU), Sea Attachment Camp, Ship Establishment Camp etc. and cadets are engaged in various activities like Sailing Expedition, Days at Sea, seamanship, navigation, communication, Naval Warfare, swimming, scuba diving and wind surfing.

Cadets who have the required attendance to their credit, have attended camp, and have shown sufficient progress can appear for the B and C Certificate examinations conducted by the Ministry of Defense.

               The NCC offers the cadet reservation and weightage of marks for admission to higher studies. The University of Kerala awards grace marks (maximum of 10%) to eligible cadets. The Central and State Governments provide various job incentives to NCC cadets. The NCC, B certificate and C certificate are valid and acceptable for entry into the armed forces in various cadres, including commissioned officers. Various scholarships are also granted to outstanding cadets.
