The department of Zoology, recognised as a research center under University of Kerala in 2007, is a pioneer department in the college with an illustrious history. The research center functioning in the department has five research guides at present and offers PhD programme in Zoology in a wide range of areas including Entomology, Marine Biology, Cancer Biology, Fisheries Biotechnology ,Avian Ecology and Environmental Biology. The Centre has 6 Research Scholars pursuing their research work. Recently a research team including Anju Krishnan G, Research scholar of the Department, discovered a new species of endemic honeybee named Apis karinjodian from the Western Ghats. Such laurels and accolades brought in by our research scholars boost the morale of the entire research community in our department and inspire them to scale new heights in their respective areas.
