Library
Sree Narayana College Library is a reservoir of knowledge in diverse areas such as science, social science, humanities, literature and languages. The library building has 4000 sq.ft. It is automated using “ KOHA” software.
Highlights:
Our central library follows open access system and automated with KOHA open source software. The library was automated in 2020 and KOHA facilitating automation of circulation, cataloguing, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), Acquisition Section, Serial Management, and Label printing . DDC system is adopted for classification and cataloguing services are provided on OPAC.
The library is functioning with seating capacity for 50 users at a time. The library is Wi-Fi enabled and also 3 internet connected computer terminals provided o users. The library has a collection of 38068 books, 52 journals( includes International, national and local journals) and 11 periodicals, 6 newspapers( 2 English + 4 Malayalam).The partially automated library makes use of KOHA software for issuing library books and offers OPAC facility to the users. The library also subscribes the Braille journal, White Print, for the visually challenged students and staff.
Apart from these, many numbers of e-books and e-journals are available through INFLIBNET N LIST consortium. Subscription of N LIST programme of INFLIBNET provides access from anywhere, more than 6000 e-journals and above 3 million e-books.
The library also maintains an e-resources blog, which provides one step access to all the freely available e-resources.
The Library Advisory Committee with the Principal as Chairman, Librarian as Secretary, and nominated faculty members function to smooth functioning of library.
The library is kept open all working days except second Saturday, Sunday and public hoidays from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Our college’s students, teachers, research scholars and non teaching staff are the members of our library.

College Library Rules
- All students of the college shall become members of the Library.
- Enter the Name, Class and Sign in the register kept at the entrance counter before entering library.
- Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
- Silence to be maintained inside the library.
- No personal belongings allowed inside the library.
- Misuse of Mobile phone and audio instruments with or without speaker or headphone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
- Library will remain open on all working days from 9.30 a.m. till 4.30 p.m.
- The Library has three main sections
a) Reading and Reference Sections
b) General Section (GS)
c) Periodical Section (PS)
a) Reading and Reference Section
The Reading and Reference Section is to be made use of by the students during working hours. The reference books will not be issued to the students to be taken home instead it can only be used as reference in the library.
Books belonging to this section shall not be taken out.
Students are expected to be in this section of the library during free hours.
Students shall handle books with utmost care and place them intact before leaving the library.
Students are expected to be co- operative in keeping the library neat, tidy and in order.
b) General Section
- Books will be issued only on production of identity cards.
- To borrow only two books at a time for UG students, four books for PG students and ten books for teachers.
- Books taken out by students shall not be retained for more than 14 days. Failure to return a book on the due date entails a fine of Rs 1 per day per volume.
- Books taken for a vacation shall be renewed after one week.
- Transfer or sub- lending of books is strictly prohibited.
- Marking, underlining ,damage etc., in any book, magazine or journals is forbidden.
- Books borrowed from the library shall be returned forthwith if the Librarian directs so.
- Students shall bring to the notice of the Librarian damage if any, in a book while borrowing failing which they will be held responsible for such damage.
- Compensation for books lost, damaged or defaced shall be paid by the borrower as estimated by the Librarian.
c) Periodical Section
In this section, journals and general magazines are available. They are arranged in subject wise. The latest issues are displayed on display rack and other previous issues are arranged in the drawer.
