Additional Skills Acquisition Programme (ASAP)
Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) is an undertaking of the Higher Education Department of the Kerala government that focuses on training students and the general population with skills that improve their employability. By choice, student groups receive sector specific skills that further enable them to be employable and industry ready.
Objectives
The objective of the programme is to enhance the employability of the students who are studying undergraduate course by providing them with skills required for the industry.
Courses offered
- Foundation course:-It consists of modules of communicative English and IT.
English communication module duration -100hours
IT module-80 hours
- Skill courses:- It consists of modules which equip students with industry relevant skills.
It consists of industry endorsement of the curriculum and teaching methodology, practical orientation and internship. Total hours -300 -350hrs.
The development of curriculum, training methodologies and internships for the advance skill module courses are carried out by the industry experts.
Examination
The final exam consists of
- APTIS test of British Council for communication skill assessment.
- Skill development test conducted by the accredited skill trainer in specific areas.
Selection of students
Selection procedure includes the following steps:
- Orientation Programme
- Call for Application
- Interview after scrutiny of Application
- Announcement of Result
- Parents’ Meeting
- Foundation Classes at College level
- Skill Classes at allotted centres
ASAP at SNC Cherthala
ASAP was instituted at Sree Narayana College ,Cherthala from 2013.The 2013-2014,2014-2015 batches completed the course in different sectors: Global Business Foundation Skills(GBFS), Banking and Finance as their choice. Recent batches have opted Animation as their course of choice. Benefits attained by the students of our college are beyond the goals of ASAP, including personality development, public speaking, conducting resourceful seminars and interview skills.
Smt. Sangeetha S. of Department of Computer science serves as the co-ordinator and Sri. T. R. Retheesh of Department of Malayalam) serves as Director of ASAP in this institution.
