Sree Narayana College, Cherthala, which has a tradition of providing quality education to young men and women for more than 58 years, combines excellent teaching with smart facilities.
General Library
Sree Narayana College Library is a reservoir of knowledge in diverse areas such as science, social science, humanities, literature and languages. The library building has 4000 sq.ft. It is automated using “ KOHA” software.
Highlights:
Our central library follows open access system and automated with KOHA open source software. The library was automated in 2020 and KOHA facilitating automation of circulation, cataloguing, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), Acquisition Section, Serial Management, and Label printing . DDC system is adopted for classification and cataloguing services are provided on OPAC.
The library is functioning with seating capacity for 50 users at a time. The library is Wi-Fi enabled and also 3 internet connected computer terminals provided o users. The library has a collection of 38068 books, 52 journals( includes International, national and local journals) and 11 periodicals, 6 newspapers( 2 English + 4 Malayalam).The partially automated library makes use of KOHA software for issuing library books and offers OPAC facility to the users. The library also subscribes the Braille journal, White Print, for the visually challenged students and staff.
Apart from these, many numbers of e-books and e-journals are available through INFLIBNET N LIST consortium. Subscription of N LIST programme of INFLIBNET provides access from anywhere, more than 6000 e-journals and above 3 million e-books.
The Library Advisory Committee with the Principal as Chairman, Librarian as Secretary, and nominated faculty members function to smooth functioning of library.
The library is kept open all working days except second Saturday, Sunday and public hoidays from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. Our college’s students, teachers, research scholars and non teaching staff are the members of our library.

Conference Hall, Seminar Hall and Audio Visual Room
One air conditioned Digital Conference Hall with projector facility, one air conditioned and digitalized Seminar Hall with seating capacity of more than 200 people, and one Media and Lecture Capturing System Hall help in the smooth conduct of ICT enabled teaching – learning in the campus.
Labs and Museums
A Language Lab which promotes facilitated self-learning is also available to polish the communicative skills of students. Two well-equipped Computer Labs, Chemistry Lab, Geology Lab cum Museum, Botany Lab, Physics Lab, and Zoology Lab are also there in the college. A well maintained Zoology Museum and Botany Herbarium help students get acquainted with the diversity in natural world. The computer labs in college also provide access to Amrita Virtual Lab, which helps students perform science experiments through simulated lab environment. All the laboratories provide a diversion from the conventional theoretical learning and often provide hands –on learning experience to the students. The college also has a research lab intended for research scholars registered under the research centres functioning in the college. Students, staff and research scholars also have access to a state-of -the art FIST laboratory established under the auspices of FIST Scheme.
OTHERS
College Auditorium
The College has a spacious auditorium where College assemblies, meetings, seminars and variety entertainments are conducted. It is also put into use as an Indoor Shuttle Badminton court.
Gym, Courts and Playground
The College offers free access to a well-equipped gym with strength training gears, treadmill, and yoga mats for its staff and students. Students can also make use of the college playground and volley ball court which operates under the aegis of Physical Education department.
Meditation Room
Students can make use of facilities like Meditation Room with the permission of the faculty-in-charge. It is open to students and staff during the working hours.
Counselling Cell
A Counselling Cell Functions in the college providing necessary guidance and support to students. Personal counselling is given to the students
Career Guidance Cell
A Career Guidance Cell also operates in the college to provide competitive examination training and guidance, to conduct placement drives and aid the students in skill development.
First Aid Cell
A First Aid cell, functioning under the NSS offers first – aid service to the students and public.
College Hostel
A college hostel with clean tidy rooms, common mess, recreational facilities and strict security is available for lady students.
Other Amenities for Female Students.
The college provides ladies amenity room, and a ladies rest room with incinerator facility for the students.
Canteen
Staff and students are offered nutritious food prepared in a hygienic environment at a reasonable rate through the college canteen. The college canteen is frequented by staff and students to relax, to enjoy good food and fellowship.
Cooperative Store
A cooperative store cum Reprographic Centre functions in the college, providing students with books and stationery supplies at a reasonable rate. Text books, stationery articles, laboratory records and note books are all available at the store.
Parking and Security
The institution has allotted separate parking space for staff and students. Round the clock security is ensured through the deployment of security staff at the college gate.
Pedestrianization and Mobility on Campus
A tiled pathway has been laid for pedestrian comfort, connecting various blocks and wash area. Ramps are also provided in all the major blocks to facilitate the easy mobility of physically challenged students. Entry of vehicles within the campus is strictly regulated during working hours.
