The department of Philosophy is one of the prestigious departments in the College since its inception in 1981 led by N R Sherly (Head of the Department), Dr. S Siddharthan and P Balagangadharan. The Department offers undergraduate programs in Philosophy. The first batch appeared for their examination in 1983 with eighteen students and had good academic excellence. At present, the department of Philosophy comprises a team of committed and vibrant three faculties, who stimulate, encourage and exhort the students to develop their intellectual and analytical abilities. In the academic year 2016-17, Anna George of III B A Philosophy of this College bagged the first rank in the final year BA Degree Examination of the Kerala University. The Department has organized many National seminars on contemporary and classical issues.
